Stage three - Dad
Our polyps make shelter possible.
My colony's hard, branching structure creates the framework of the reef. Fish feed here, young animals hide here, and whole communities depend on the spaces we make.
Even though we look like one coral, I am a vast collective of small animals building something neither could create alone.
Why coral matters
Thousands of polyps can build a reef's backbone.
Dad coral represents the sturdy, mature colony that grows from the same simple process as every other coral character. One polyp divides and connects with many others until a living structure rises from the seafloor.
Those tiny animals create shelter, natural barriers, and feeding grounds for reef ecosystems. Although they cannot see or hear as we do, corals sense their surroundings and work collectively, even synchronizing reproduction across a reef.
A five-dollar monthly coffee gift helps keep these reef builders protected long enough to replicate their resilient traits and restore the structure that fish, coastlines, and ocean life depend on.
